I went window shopping today! I bought four windows.

Chris and Cody came to town for a wedding at the end of September, providing a great excuse for a grand family-tour of the premises.
Young Master Matthew kindly stepped out of the frame, I stepped in – and he proceeded to snap the best-ever family portrait.
Next day, Sasha was back at the house, this time in his official capacity of Master Electrician.
It’s pretty darn brilliant to have a family connection to Bill Yeo Electric, pretty amazing to have my nephew wiring our house.
And here it is – the juice box!
Next day, the portico/foyer took on new dimension. Just part of the job for the guys, but Roy and I were thrilled with our embryonic front door.
We didn’t get the giant crane experience with the roof joists, but the roofers got this sweet baby up the driveway to assist their shingling efforts.
And here’s our choice of shingle, in sunlight and in shade. The color is “weathered wood,” and yes, dark as it is, it does meet the new-construction reflective roofing requirements.
May through October, the house had pretty much been a 2-man show, with a small cast of supporting characters, and cameo appearances by concrete and joist crews. Suddenly, start of October, there was a mad flurry of activity at the site. People were everywhere – inside, outside, above and below. We not only had roofers, we had siding stacked in the driveway,
forms for the portico,
the tub was in place (it’s a soaker!),
as well as requisite valves and plumbing for the bathroom, kitchen and laundry,
Sasha had set a bunch of the cans for the recessed lights,
the exterior doors and windows had arrived,
and some were even in place!
Discerning readers may have noticed the table Roy and Sasha were leaning on at the top of this post is not Table. Turns out Table belonged to the concrete guys; when they took their leave at the end of the week, Table left with them. Happily, the table void was immediately filled by Table-Too, seen here in ….
… the living room, exquisitely poised in front of the safety-blocked future triple sliding door to the future deck.
From the backyard, the changes were less obvious – but not invisible. See the scaffolding on the north side of the house? Irrefutable evidence that the siding that was in the driveway at the start of the week was already going up at week’s end.
